The English edition of Aleteia recently noted that the Church of Saint Francis in Porto, Portugal presents “one of the finest examples of a Baroque interior in Europe,” decorated with over 650 pounds of gold dust.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this Franciscan church dates to the 13th century and was completed in 1425 with the elaborate gilt interior work referenced here dating to the mid-18th century.
