The older parts of the Singapore Art Museum (SAM) complex date back to 1867, and are published as a national monument that used to be the home of the Saint Joseph’s Institution campus, the oldest boys' Catholic school in Singapore. Concerns these were being demolished were unfounded, as the buildings being demolished are much more recent additions, built for the museum in the 1990s, and not part of the old SJI campus.
