About the Event
Route 66 is 'America's Main' street but internationally known and appreciated for its history, roadside attractions and the communities built around it. Join us in exploring the historic highway with a dozen points of interest and three significant churches. We will meet at the Cathedral of St Raymond Nonattus, learn on site about the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (perhaps see the buffalo heard!), lunch together at Braidwood's famous Polkadot Drive In, see little Illinois towns and their roadside attractions along the way to the beautiful old St Paul's and St Mary's in Pontiac. This is a drive-yourself tour! Your guide will meet you at each stop. Lunch, jute-box tunes, or candle donations at the churches are paid on your own. Pre and post tour extra exploratory options will also be provided with the full itinerary after registration.
