Pillar of Pilsen

The timing is ideal for this tour since our visit will be on the "vigil" (the day before) the big Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, and just after the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Churches will be decked in local and universal symbolism.

Technically, we will tour three distinct historical sites that include three of the Pillars of Pilsen: St Procopius, St Francis of Assisi and St Pius V. However, your guide will take you through much more, including  an old limestone chapel frequented by the humble Sisters of Charity, and one of Chicago's national Shrines to St Jude! They are all suprisingly proximate. Gain insights about the background of each church from the Bohemian beginings of St Procopius  to the steady Mexican presence  at St Francis and the ready Dominican influence at St Jude's Shrine, as well as learning about the enduring art and architecture.
