Most Beautiful Churches

Learn a little local lore while exploring the universal underpinnings of Catholic church design in a tour of four of Chicago's Most Beautiful Churches. You can join us 8:30, for a professionally guided exploration of four historic beauties or come a little earlier, at 8:00 am to observe or participation in the "Extraordinary Form" of liturgical worship.

One church was voted in The Top 12 Churches in America by Fox News, and "something of a miracle" that it still exists. Another was voted The Most Beautiful Church in America by a national online vote. The Chicago Tribune noted that though, "Threatened with the wrecking ball in 1988...its opulent baroque interior, stands as one of Chicago's many symbols of resurrection." We will also visit a great Gothic that offers a balance and precision reflecting the verticality of fatih, and a keystone church, otherworldly in it's design and decor, that ranks high among scholars and pedestrian observers making its mark in significant architectural books.
