Most Beautiful Churches
Date, Time, & Location
About the Event
Learn a little local lore while exploring the universal underpinnings of Catholic church design in a tour of four of Chicago's Most Beautiful Churches. You can meet us for observation/participation of the "Extraordinary Form" of liturgical worship, at 8:00 a.m. or join us after, at 8:30, for a professionally guided exploration of four historic beauties.
St Mary of the Angels was voted in the top 12 churches in America by Fox News, and "something of a miracle" that it still exists. St John Cantius was named as The Most Beautiful Church in America by a national online vote. The Chicago Tribune noted that though, "Threatened with the wrecking ball in 1988...its opulent baroque interior, stands as one of Chicago's many symbols of resurrection." St Alphonsus, a great Gothic, offers a balance and precision reflecting the verticality of fatih, and St Clement, otherworldly in it's design and decor, ranks high among scholars and pedestrian observers making its mark in significant architectural books.
