About the Event
What better time to travel to Wisconsin! - in the beauty of fall, to the heights of Holly Hill, the Basilica and National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians. This historic site has roots going back hundreds of years, with mystical experiences, miracles and lots of good, simple community. A community of Carmelites has been serving God, staffing the church and welcoming visitors since 1906.
On this trip, you can climb 178 stairs leading up to top of the look-out tower, discover the outdoor stations of the cross that wind around the steep hill, or meditate in any of the many restful indoor spaces including the Basilica and lower church, which is dedicated to the little flower, St Therese of Lisieux. Â
We aim to arrive in time for the 11:00 am Mass and reserved seating has been arranged. The book store, gift shop and a wonderful bakery with fresh pastries, sandwiches, cappuccino etc, will be open. Purchase or bring a lunch to enjoy together at the picnic areas. Don't miss the bonus stop at the tiny St Joan of Arc chapel in Milwaukee on the return. It was literally built in the 1400s – in France - still used as originally intended, but in the USA!
Space is limited. Â
Round Trip Coach Transportation included.Â
Meet at: St Joseph church: 722 High St., Aurora, IL 60505
