Aurora, IL, known as "The City of Lights," boasts numerous historical and ethnically diverse churches. One area of the town earned the nickname "Pigeon Hill" because of the birds that perched on the many steeples. Join us to explore their fascinating history!
This tour will feature Aurora’s “Year of Hope” Pilgrimage site, Our Lady of Good Counsel, the historic German "Big Woods" church, Annunciation, and St Michael's Romanian Catholic Church.
Your knowledgeable guide will greet you outside the first church and accompany you throughout the tour, offering insightful context and thematic continuity. Participants often gather for a meal after the tour at a local restaurant to extend the time together.
Meet at Our Lady of Good Counsel: 620 5th Street (free parking to the north/left of the church)
Participants must register in advance. Transportation is not included with this tour.
