About the Event
Learn about Aurora, IL, "The City of Lights", as we highlight three beautiful, and richly different, churches: Aurora’s “Year of Hope” Pilgrimage site, the old German "Big Woods" church, and another who's history straddles the famed Fox river.
Learn about Annunciation, once nestled in the Big Woods. It is an intimate church who’s parishioners refused different architectural fads throughout the decades maintaining it’s lovely stone and carved-wood integrity. It celebrates 150 years. Also see St Mary's - it glory is in its remarkable, meditative Zettler windows. The finale, Our Lady of Good Counsel, is a ‘newer’ and one may argue even more glorious edifice with a coffered ceiling, baldachin and more. It is listed as a Year of Hope Pilgrimage Site.
