About the Event

Dont miss a guided tour of the only church built by Chicago's legendary architectural firm of (Daniel) Burnham and Root. It stubbornly squats in Canaryville under the patronage of St Gabriel. In physical form, its structure echos in the good will of the legendary "The King of the Yards", the famous parish priest, Fr. Dorney.

Also on our excursion, you will have a rare opportunity to experience an inter-city Benedictan monastery - where we will sit to witness the short chanted-prayer, aptly called "Terce". The small gothic church was deliberately chosen for it's acoustical precision, a prerequisit for the seven-times-a-day prayers that are sung there.   Our guided visit of Bridgeport, the neighborhood of the former mayor Dailey includes the historic triple domed St Mary of Perpetual Help.

Time will be provided for silent exploration, prayer, and lunch at Ricco Benne's, where you can expect the best of Chicago's pizza, sandwiches or thier famous breaded steak.

Meet at: Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish, 8404 Cass Ave., Darien, IL 60561
